I'm not clear what the point of the pools in the FSS example are. They seem to be used only to assign the FSS as the zone's scheduler, but we use dispadmin -d to set the system-wide default anyway.

Back when I created it, I was trying to make things simple for people to learn. Pools and projects were new (ok, newish) and resource controls could be configured in some complex ways. I thought it would simplify things if made the configuration: 1 Zone, 1 Pool, and then choose your resource control; rather then having some configs that used pools and some that didn't. If I started by explaining all the configuration possibilities, it would really be overwhelming.

Perhaps by avoiding confusing beginners, I've confused advanced users! You are right, there is no need for pools in that FSS example. If you can think of a way to explain this better - please update the page.
